The Stay Afloat Grant Program provides financial assistance of up to $500 to support families of children with conditions of medical complexity facing unexpected expenses related to caring for their child.
Families of children with complex medical conditions are eligible to apply if they meet specific criteria related to medical complexity. These include chronic health conditions with high morbidity, impact to daily living, high healthcare utilization, and/or technology dependence.
No, each family can only receive the Stay Afloat Grant once per calendar year.

The grant is intended to cover unexpected or unanticipated short-term expenses resulting from the care of a child with conditions of medical complexity.
Yes, there is no limitation to combining funds from the Stay Afloat grant with other assistance received from other organizations.
Yes, we prioritize the privacy and confidentiality of every family’s personal information and only collect what is necessary to process the application.
The healthcare sponsor is a health care professional (physician, nurse practitioner, nurse, social worker, etc.) that provides care to your child and will sign the application to verify the information provided. A healthcare sponsor is required for submission.
Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis. If an application is not approved, it will be rolled over for an additional two months. If after three months, the application is not approved for funding, the application will be rejected. At that point, the family may submit a new application with additional information to supplement the new application.
Applications selected for funding are verified with the healthcare sponsor and checks are then disbursed to the family, usually in the first two weeks of the following month.
